CES kicks off tomorrow, 6th January 2016 but that doesn’t mean cool tech hasn’t started oozing out from the event. Here is a look at everything we have seen so far.
The world’s largest consumer electronic show is about to start and we at Digit are here giggling like little girls at everything that the global tech media is reporting from the event (there is little more we can do sitting in a test lab). So we though we’d compile the best of what the world media is covering from CES and bring it for you. This will be your one stop shop for some of the wackiest, funkiest and downright out of the box tech that’s showcased at CES 2016.
Mix drinks like a BAU5!!
If you were envious of your friend who can mix drinks like a pro, then this first video is the one for you. At CES 2016, the brewery is coming home, kind of. From the ability to make beer at home to a drinks mixer that can house six 750ml chambers and you can mix the composition to make a drink from the comfort of an app. Looks like people at CES are gearing up to have a party even before the event begins.
Powering a self-driving car
Self-driving cars are the future and at CES 2016 NVIDIA has unveiled the Drive PX2. This is the world’s first AI super computer designed to make self-driving cars a reality. The computational capability of this technology is equivalent to 150 MacBook Pros. All this technology and the only thing that comes to our mind is whether these self-driving cars will be able to navigate through Indian traffic conditions.
The next generation thermometer
In the traditional method, you need to put a thermometer in your mouth or under your armpit, wait for a minute at least before you can get your body temperature. Not anymore! With the Withings Thermo all you need to do it touch the device to your temple (head not the place you pray) and your body temperature is sent to the app on your smartphone. Pretty cool right?

Unveiled at CES 2016, Faraday Future's breathtaking new concept car shows how the future of automobiles does not lie only in more horsepower and reduced emissions.
Inail Intelligent Printer
Just because it says inail doesn’t mean its made by Apple. What it is, is a device that acts as a 3D printer where you load any photo that you want, stick your hand into the machine and you get a custom nail job.
Parrot Disco fixed-wing drone
Parrot claims that this is the first fixed-wing consumer drone. It has automatic takeoff and landing making it easy for people to fly the drone without worrying about the perfect takeoff and landing. It has a range of 2km and a 45 minute battery life.
Ziro: A robotics kit you control with your hand (Minority Report style)
The name says it all. This glove is connected to the robot kit which you can control with gestures. So for example, if you fit the robot kit in a car you can use the glove and the gesture controls to control the cars movement. There is a companion smartphone app that can map the gestures so that the interaction between the motor and the glove is seamless. Jedi style remote control anyone?
Hyundai AR manual
RTFM (Read the Fricken Manual) has been a term that’s thrown around a lot especially if you are trying to figure out what to do when you’ve purchased a new gadget or want to know what that knob in you car can do. It looks like Hyundai wants to take the RTFM concept to a new level and has an augmented reality app that gives you detailed information about not only various functions of the car but also about what each button and nob on the dash board does.
Immersit: Taking VR to an even more immersive experience
Have you visited one of those theatres that claim to be 7D? You know, the one that sprays water all over your favourite shirt to make you feel like you are actually sitting on a roller coaster? Well, you can now have a part of that experience at home. There are pads on each leg of the chair that move the chair based on the actions that is taking place in the VR headset. Yes, the consumer has to wear a VR headset, which makes the experience 3D and the moving chair adds another dimension to it.
MagSafe connector for the MacBook
The only thing missing from Apple’s USB type-C powered MacBook is a MagSafe connector and it looks like Griffin has realised this and released an adapter for the MacBook. The accessory charges the laptop via USB C but has a MagSafe connector as a part of it. The MagSafe charging cable will launch in April for $39.99 (Rs. 2,700 approx. directly converted).
Griffin has also announced a portable charger for the Apple watch. It will be available in Q2 2016 for $69.99 (Rs. 4,700 approx. directly converted).
Controlling the BB-8 droid using the Force
Well, not really, but with Bluetooth. There is a wristband dubbed the Force band and this isn’t the final name. In-fact the gestures aren’t final either and that’s how you control the BB-8 droid. Move your hand forward or backward to move the droid forward or backward respectively.
