Nintendo can soon launch its highly anticipated Switch 2. The device is expected to be dropped during its upcoming Nintendo Direct event on April 2. Ahead of the launch, thanks to rumours and leaks circulating online, we know what we can expect from the device as the company has not revealed much. But a new leak may have already revealed its price.
SurveyNintendo Switch 2: Expected Price
A Nintendo Wire report revealed that a a Canadian Costco employee allegedly leaked images of an internal product listing and an in-store price tag for a mysterious “Nintendo Switch Place Holder” (misspelled as “Palce Holder”). According to the leaked image, the Nintendo Switch 2 is priced at $499 CAD, which is $100 more than the original Switch and $50 more than the Switch OLED in Canada. This roughly translates to Rs 30,000 in India.
Given Nintendo’s current pricing strategy, industry experts speculate that the leaked $499 CAD price translates to $399 USD in the United States, which is around Rs 34,000 in INR. This price aligns with previous analyst predictions, as many insiders have anticipated that Nintendo would position the Switch 2 around the $399 mark.
In India, the prices can be more given the taxes and import duties that can be levied on it. We can’t really tell the exact price right now.
During a recent investor meeting, Nintendo hinted at keeping its products affordable, stating that it will “consider the prices consumers expect” when launching its next-gen console. However, it remains unclear if the leaked listing is genuinely for the Switch 2 or possibly for an unannounced Switch 1 bundle.
For now, it is best to take this information with a pinch of salt as we have no confirmation about the authenticity of the listing. We are also awaiting more details about the India launch of the product.
