According to the reports, the new button will allow users to access multiple functions through customization, similar to the iPhone 16’s action button. For those unfamiliar, the Action Button, which debuted with the iPhone 15 Pro, can be used for a variety of tasks (depending on the user settings) and has replaced the ring-silent switch. The new action button can be used to enable DND and Focus modes, turn on the camera app, flashlight, camera, and control center or set up more shortcuts.
The new OnePlus button, which will replace the alert slider, is expected to be used as a multi-purpose tool, making it easier for users to access shortcuts. The device may now offer more use cases, but it will no longer include the fans’ favourite alert slider.
However, this is not the first time the tech giant has removed the alert slider. Previously, the company ditched it with the OnePlus 10T to offer faster charging, a bigger battery, and enhanced signals.
Meanwhile, the Oppo Find N5 is also set to launch on February 20 with a slimmer form factor, Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and other enhancements. Globally, the device is expected to launch as the OnePlus Open 2. The report stated that the device could come with an alert slider.
It is worth noting that the Oppo Find N5 will launch in the Chinese market on February 20. On the other hand, the OnePlus Open 2 launch date is not confirmed at the time of writing this article. Stay tuned with Digit to know the latest updates about the technology news.
