Yu Yunique is the affordable 4G smartphone and a first device from the company to run on stock Android instead of Cyanogen.

Micromax's Yu Televentures has announced that the company has the plans to sell 5 lakh units of the Yu Yunique smartphone in the country by Diwali this year. The Yu Yunique is the latest offering from the company, which is one of the affordable 4G-enabled smartphones in the country and is the first Yu device to run on stock Android. The smartphone comes with a 4.7-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz. In addition, the device has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB via micro-SD card. It has an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera with a 2000 mAh battery. Yu’s latest affordable device is priced at Rs. 4,999.

Amrinder S. Dhaliwal, COO, Yu Televentures, told The Hindu, “We want to become number one online brand of smartphones in India with our new launch targeted at the youth in the age group of 15 to 25 years by offering them the most affordable 4G LTE phone with best of the features in the price range With the launch of the YUNIQUE, Yu Televentures was introducing over 825 authorised service centres across 600 cities, where the customers could walk-in for software support, drop their handsets, if had any problem and get replacement at their doorstep.”

Yu smartphones have been known for their affordable pricing and the fact that they run CyangoenMod OS, but with Yunique, the company has decided to go with a stock Android experience. However, the company says users can install Cyanogen on the device, without worrying voiding their warranty. While the Yu Yunique is competing with the Lenovo A2010, Moto E (2nd gen) 4G, and Redmi 2, the device comes at an attractive price point that may work very well for it.
