Google launches Delhi Public Transport Offline app for Android
HIGHLIGHTS

The app offers information about the routes, directions, and even timetables for Delhi Metro, DTC buses, DIMTS orange buses, and Gurgaon Rapid Metro.

Google has released an Android transit app called Delhi Public Transport Offline for the residents of Delhi. The app can be used to check the routes, directions, and even the timetables for Delhi Metro, DTC buses, DIMTS Orange buses, and Gurgaon Rapid Metro. Most of the features of the app can also be used offline.

The Delhi Public Transport app is about 1MB in size and sports a simple user interface. The Search option lets users search for routes. In addition, wherever available, the app also displays metro routes that can be used. The user can choose to see complete directions and even check timetables. Timetables are included for both the metro and buses in Delhi. If you travel on a particular route often, you can also save them for future reference. The app description on Google Play says that the app can also inform you about major delays in the Metro or other Delhi transit information. The feature will require an active Internet connection to work though.

The app has been developed by the Google Maps team and is an experimental app at the moment. The team may bring changes and new features onto the app. Earlier this year, Google added schedule for Indian Railways and public transit information for eight cities in its Google Transit app. Additionally, Delhi Traffic Police launched its SMS alerts service to warn subscribers about traffic jams in the capital via SMS.
