Will Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold launch with three batteries? Here’s what we know
Patent reveals a G-style inward tri-fold design with a 9.96-inch tablet-like screen.
Triple battery setup likely offers improved balance and higher capacity than Fold 7.
Expected specs include Snapdragon 8 Elite, 200MP camera, and Android 16 with One UI 8.
Samsung is gearing up for its first-ever Galaxy Z Tri-Fold launch. A new patent filing suggests that the company’s long-rumoured tri-fold smartphone, potentially named the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, is inching closer to launch. While Samsung has yet to officially confirm the device, details revealed by the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) patent suggest that it will feature a G-style inward folding design that unfolds into a large 9.96-inch display, essentially transforming into a small tablet when fully opened.
SurveyThe patent illustrations also reveal a design that outwardly resembles the Galaxy Z Fold 7, but with significant internal changes. Notably, the device could house three connected panels, each containing its own battery module. These batteries are reportedly linked via ribbon cables, increasing in size from one panel to the next, with the camera housing panel carrying the smallest battery due to space constraints, and the third panel holding the largest.
Although the exact battery capacities remain unspecified, the combined setup is expected to exceed the 4,400mAh battery used in the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold launch date (Expected)
Industry reports suggest that Samsung may unveil the Galaxy Z TriFold during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, which will take place in Gyeongju, South Korea, between October 31 and November 1, 2025. However, initial availability might be limited to select markets, such as South Korea and China, with production reportedly capped at around 50,000 units in the first batch.

Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold specifications (Expected)
As for specifications, the Galaxy Z TriFold is rumoured to feature a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a silicon-carbon battery, and a 9.96-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, which folds into a 6.54-inch front screen for everyday use. The device is expected to boast a triple rear camera setup, led by a 200MP primary sensor, and run Android 16 with One UI 8 on top.
If these leaks hold true, the Galaxy Z TriFold could mark a major milestone in Samsung’s foldable lineup — blending cutting-edge engineering with the practicality of a tablet-sized screen in your pocket.
