Sony India has launched the WH-1000XM6, the latest addition to its flagship 1000X series of wireless noise-cancelling headphones. The company positions the new pair for music lovers, fashionistas, travellers, and professionals. As successor to the WH-1000XM5, the XM6 (or the Mark 6) boasts advanced noise cancellation with 12 microphones and Adaptive NC Optimiser, improved calls, ‘premium sound co-created with masters,’ LE audio support and smart connectivity features in a foldable design. The WH-1000XM6 is priced at Rs 39,990 and is available in Black, Platinum Silver, and Midnight Blue from 29 September 2025. The headphones can be purchased at Sony Centres, select Croma and Reliance outlets, the ShopatSC.com portal, and Amazon India.
Specifications and features
Based on XM5 feedback, Sony has brought back foldable hinges to these over-ear headphones. The asymmetrical headband has a flat top, and the earpads have vegan leather cushions. The case is also compact this time around.
Design aside, the headphones also feature a new HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3, 12 microphones, Adaptive NC Optimiser for real-time noise cancellation (1.5 times more than its predecessor), and Auto Ambient Sound mode. For audio specifically, you get support for High-Resolution Audio, High-Resolution Audio Wireless, DSEE Extreme for upscaling, and 360 Reality Audio Upmix for Cinema (Spatial effect). Some new additions include improved EQ options, Background Music Effect, and Scene-based Listening.

The XM6 brings connectivity solutions like Bluetooth 5.3, LE Audio for better efficiency, multi-point connection for connecting to two devices simultaneously, and Quick Access to Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.
You can control the headphones using on-board controls for noise cancellation and ambient mode, and a touch panel on the earcups.

You can tweak the headphones’ settings, update software, and check remaining power within the Sound Connect app.
And finally, these Sony headphones are rated to run up to 30 hours and with USB-C charging, you can top up 3 hours of playback with just a 3-minute quick charge.
