Apple is reportedly planning to debut in the foldable smartphone market next year. The recent reports have given some fresh insights into the upcoming handset, revealing its display and other key elements. A market research firm has revealed the sizes of the inner and outer screens on the foldable iPhone (or iPhone Fold), suggesting a smaller screen than the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. Additionally, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and popular Apple analyst Ming-Chi-Kuo have also shared some sneak peeks into the upcoming device.

Here’s everything we know about Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone.

Foldable iPhone display (Expected)

According to a report by Taipei-based market research firm TrendForce, the foldable iPhone will likely come with a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.8-inch inner screen. This also coincides with the previous leaks made by a Chinese tipster earlier this year.

Though the firm doesn’t reveal any further details on the rumoured foldable handset, it adds that Apple will bring “deep iOS optimisation for foldable use cases”.

Additionally, Ming-Chi-Kuo recently tipped that the first foldable iPhone will sport a crease-free inner screen, manufactured by Samsung Display. The device is also expected to ship with a custom metal hinge and backplate designed by Fine M-Tec for improved durability.

In terms of hardware, the foldable iPhone is rumoured to sport a titanium frame, with the hinge comprising a blend of titanium and stainless steel. As for the camera, the foldable iPhone is likely to feature two rear cameras and one front camera. Also, the Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to ditch Face ID in favour of a Touch ID sensor in the power button for its first foldable smartphone.

Mark Gurman’s Bloomberg report stated that the iPhone could be priced at around $2,000. However, these are just early leaks and rumours and hence should be taken with a pinch of salt.
