The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recently asked telecom operators to introduce voice and SMS-only plans for their users. Bharti Airtel is the first telecom operator to introduce such prepaid plans. As the name suggests, the plans offer only voice and SMS benefits. If users need to access the internet on the go, they need to recharge with a separate data-only plan. The three new plans are priced at Rs 185, Rs 203 and Rs 206 and are now visible on both the Airtel app and website. Follow along with the article to learn more about Airtel’s voice-only prepaid recharge plans.
With the Rs 185 voice-only plan, Airtel offers a 28-day validity, and during this period subscribers can enjoy unlimited local, STD and roaming calls. The telecom giant also bundles 300 SMS that can be used during the validity period. While the plan does not offer any data benefits, it comes with free HelloTunes. The per-day running cost of the plan is about Rs 6.61.

Airtel’s Rs 203 recharge plan comes with unlimited local, STD and roaming calls, bundled with 300 SMS. Consumers can enjoy these benefits for 30 days. The per-day running cost of the plan is about Rs 6.77. You will also get free HelloTunes with the plan.
The trickiest voice-only plan is Airtel’s Rs 206 plan. According to the company, the recharge is valid for a calendar month and renews on the same date each month. This means the validity depends on the number of days in the month. For example, it will be 31 days in January and 28 days in February. The per-day cost of the plan will also change depending on the month. With this plan, users get unlimited local, STD and roaming calls along with 300 SMS. Subscribers will also get free HelloTunes.
If you don’t want daily data and are looking for a voice-only plan, then the new introductions from Airtel are worth consideration. However, which one suits you best depends on your requirements. In my opinion, you can alter between the three plans as if you’re planning to recharge in February; then the Rs 185 plan is the one that offers the best value, while for the months with 30 days, the Rs 203 prepaid plan offers the best value, and the Rs 206 plan should be the one that will give you the best per-day running cost with 31 days.
