Vivo X100 lacks in performance during a stress test: But why?

The Vivo X100 was Vivo’s highly anticipated flagship smartphone. It also features the newly launched flagship chipset, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 Soc. The smartphone was launched recently and promised a lot. However, it was recently put through a stress test and the performance wasn’t satisfactory at all. Let’s take a look at how the Vivo X100 performed.

Sahil Karoul recently put the Vivo X100 under the stress test. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the results of the stress test he performed on the high-end Vivo X100 having the Dimensity 9300 chip. The test reflected that the smartphone had a significant thermal throttling issue and it also showed a drop in the performance.

When put under the benchmark test, after just two minutes, the Dimensity 9300 throttled down to a mere 46% of its maximum performance. The performance also dropped down to 0.6GHz on one of the cores which has a maximum clocking speed of 3.2GHz.

For the uninitiated, a stress test is a test to check the CPU performance of any smartphone on high loads. But they might not indicate real-world performance.

The test results, however, aren’t very shocking, to be honest. Earlier, a NotebookCheck report revealed that the Mediatek Dimensity 9300 chipset doesn’t include any efficiency cores. This meant throttling issues as the powered cores (Core-X4) have the ability to draw more power.

Don’t get me wrong, power cores are not totally bad either. It allows for an improved raw performance. However, on the other hand, it leads to the issue with thermals. And that’s what the stress test might be reflecting.

The Vivo X100 was recently unveiled in China and is expected to soon enter the Indian market as well.
