Users of Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ and the Note 8 have started reporting the presence of a bug in the latest update of Samsung’s Messages app. This bug is secretly sending some photos from the Gallery to the user’s contacts without their knowledge.

Those affected have started posting their complaints about this issue on Reddit, and it has been observed that this bug is not limited to a particular device or a network. The source of this bug still remains unknown. For now, you can get rid of this bug by disabling the storage permissions on the Samsung Messages app. This will stop the app from gaining access to the phone’s Gallery.

To disable the storage permissions, go to Settings > Apps >  Samsung Messages > Permissions > Storage and change the permissions. But remember that you won’t be able to send GIFs or images to your contacts.

In case you haven’t received the latest update, go to Settings > Galaxy Apps and then just turn off the auto update feature. The final resolution is that you can switch to a different messaging app until Samsung patches this bug with a software update.
