Samsung is gearing up to expand its market in India with its next-generation foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 8. This smartphone is a successor to the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 and expected to come with noticeable upgrades. However, Samsung hasn’t disclosed any official information regarding the specifications of its new foldable smartphone yet. However, various leaks and news pieces have revealed enough about the upcoming foldable smartphone to form expectations from it. In this piece, we discuss the differences between the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in order to analyse the changes the new model will bring and decide which one is better to buy.
The main display of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a size of 8 inches, while the cover display is 6.5 inches. Additionally, both displays feature a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz for smooth scrolling and viewing of animations. The screens boast brightness levels up to 2,600 nits outdoors.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to feature the same 8-inch main AMOLED screen and a 6.5-inch AMOLED cover display. It is also rumoured to support an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and offer up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness in direct sunlight.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Furthermore, it also houses up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage.
In comparison, the rumoured Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It may also offer up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.

In terms of juice, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is backed by a 4,400mAh battery and supports 25W wired fast charging as well as 15W wireless charging.
However, the coming model, called the Galaxy Z Fold 8, will be fitted with a more substantial 5,000mAh battery pack. It may also offer a faster 45-watt wired charger without doing away with wireless charging capabilities.
For those who are interested in taking pictures, there will be a triple-lens configuration on the backside that consists of a 200MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide lens and a 10MP telephoto lens. At the front, users get a 10MP camera for selfies and video calls on both the main and cover screens.
In comparison, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rumoured to arrive with an upgraded camera system, including a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, the device is expected to feature a 10MP under-display camera on the main screen, along with a 10MP camera on the cover display.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 made its debut in the Indian market with a starting price of Rs 1,74,999, while the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be priced around Rs 1,85,000.
