South Korean smartphone maker Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S27 Ultra early next year as part of the S27 series. Moreover, a recent leak claimed the S27 Ultra is facing heating issues in testing with the flagship Snapdragon chipset. According to Seoul Economic Daily, if the problem continues beyond October, the company might consider exploring options such as a 2nm Exynos 2700 as a replacement.
Additionally, tipster @OnLeaks recently claimed on X that the S27 Ultra will offer slim display bezels measuring 1.21mm and a slightly larger camera bump at 4.64mm. While these two changes might not be significantly noticeable to a normal user, here are five changes you can expect in the specifications of the upcoming device.
Display: Similar to the S26 Ultra, the S27 Ultra is expected to ship with a 6.9-inch 2K AMOLED QHD+ LTPO anti-reflective screen. Speaking of upgrades, the handset will likely offer an improved 2nd-generation Privacy Display and a higher-grade M16 panel.
Improved Processor: The upcoming Ultra flagship is tipped to run on a customised version of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, an upgrade over the S26 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. However, recent leaks suggest Samsung may consider using Exynos 2700 if the reported heating issues during S27 Ultra’s testing persist, a radical shift after 5 years.
More OS updates: The upcoming S27 Ultra could debut with One UI 9.5 based on Android 17 and offer seven years of OS upgrades. Launched early this year, the S26 Ultra debuted with Android 16 out of the box. Besides more OS updates, Samsung may announce a few Galaxy AI features that may remain exclusive to the S27 Ultra at launch and later debut on older models.
Larger Battery: The S27 Ultra will likely offer 5,700mAh (compared to the S26 Ultra’s 5,000mAh). As for charging, the phone is expected to offer support for similar 60W wired and 25W wireless charging speeds.
Upgraded Cameras (but only three): Samsung might cut down one sensor of the Galaxy S27 Ultra but offer an improved selfie camera, in comparison to the S26 Ultra. The phone is expected to ship with a 200MP HP6, 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP 5x telephoto rear sensor and a 16MP selfie shooter. For comparison, the S26 Ultra ships with a 200MP main + 50MP ultrawide + 10MP 3x telephoto + 50MP periscope 5x rear and a 12MP front camera. These sensors may sit in a redesigned camera module reminiscent of the iPhone 18 Pro.
Meanwhile, the S27 Ultra is expected to start in the sub-Rs Rs1.7 lakh price range in India. In comparison, the S26 Ultra currently starts at Rs 1,54,999. It is anticipated to be announced in February 2027 and go on sale in March next year.
