Apple is set to pay up to $250 million to settle a class-action lawsuit in the US over delayed Siri features promised as part of Apple Intelligence. The settlement website is now accepting claims from eligible iPhone owners, although the final payout will depend on the number of valid claims submitted and other deductions from the settlement fund. Eligible users can currently claim $25 per qualifying iPhone, with the amount potentially increasing to a maximum of $95 per device. The settlement does not apply to iPhone users outside the US.
The settlement covers original purchasers in the US who bought an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. The eligible models include the iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
If you have any of these devices, you must submit a claim personally to receive payment. The claim form asks for details that can verify the purchase, including information from the eligible iPhone. The settlement website also provides instructions for finding the device’s serial number.
The lawsuit, filed in a California federal court, accused Apple of promoting Apple Intelligence features for Siri that were not available when the iPhone 16 series went on sale. The claims centred on more personalised Siri capabilities that Apple had demonstrated, including the ability to understand information across apps and use personal context.
Apple denied the allegations and said the settlement is not an admission of wrongdoing. The company agreed to the deal to avoid the cost and uncertainty of continuing the litigation.
The claim deadline is December 21, 2026, while the court is scheduled to hold the final approval hearing on February 24, 2027. Payments will be processed only if the settlement receives final approval and any appeals are resolved.
