Nokia TA-1000 could be an entry level Android device with 1GB RAM and Snapdragon processor
Nokia's roadmap for 2017 reportedly includes at least 5 different smartphones, with at least one of them launching at Mobile World Congress in February. While the Nokia D1C is expected to be the first device from Finland-based HMD Global, a new mystery device has now passed the China Compulsory Certification (3C).
Listed as the TA-1000, the smartphone could be one of the devices to be launched by HMD Global in 2017 and it supports 5V/2A standard charging. 3C certification doesn't reveal much other than the device being LTE ready and supports standard charging. The lack of fast charging here suggests this one could be one of the budget Android devices.
The budget device in question could be the Nokia E1, which has been rumoured recently. The smartphone is expected to sport a 5.5-inch display and could be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 200 series chipset. The Android Nougat-based device could launch with just 1GB RAM.
There have been numerous rumours building up to the launch of Nokia smartphones, with C1 and P series devices tipped to be flagship offerings. It is almost certain that Nokia D1C will make an appearance at MWC 2017, as an entry-level smartphone, but will E1 be announced as budget entry-level smartphone?
Most rumours around Nokia's comeback are unsubstantiated and should be taken with a pinch of salt. Nokia and its brand licensing partner HMD Global are promising to make a strong statement and could very well manage to win back confidence from consumers looking for a change in the fragmented market.
