MediaTek to launch its first hexa-core chip
HIGHLIGHTS

MediaTek looks forward to be the second SoC (System on a Chip) manufacturer to launch a hexa-core chipset only after Samsung.

MediaTek is ready to join Samsung in the race of hexa-core chipsets. The Taiwanese SoC manufacturer is reportedly working on its own six core chipset. The move will directly pitch the new SoC against Samsung’s Exynos 5260 Hexa chip.

Named with a model number MT6591, MediaTek is already manufacturing the chipset according to reports.

The SoC is reported to run at a speed of 1.5GHz and doesn’t support 4G LTE.

MediaTek has been on a roll lately. The SoC maker recently announced its second octa-core processor. At the MWC, the company announced its first 64-bit chip.
