Vivo sub-brand iQOO has announced the launch date of the iQOO Neo 12 in China. The smartphone maker is set to announce the device in its homeland on October 28. While there are no official hints of a device launching in India, a recent leak suggests the Chinese phone maker could introduce the handset as iQOO 16R in the country. According to X (formerly Twitter) tipster Debayan Roy (@Gadgetsdata), the device could debut with a different camera setup and under iQOO’s “R” series label of premium devices. The phone is said to bring a metallic frame, an IP69 rating and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

The Neo 12 is expected to debut with a 9,000mAh cell with 100W charging. It will likely run the latest version of OriginOS 7 based on Android 17. Coming to optics, the device is said to pack 50MP OIS main and an 8MP ultrawide rear and a 16MP selfie camera.

Tipster Roy noted that iQOO may launch the phone as “iQOO 16R” in India with a changed camera configuration. Factoring in the price hikes and iQOO’s previous track record, buyers in India can expect the smartphone to launch at a starting price of around Rs 70,000-75,000. For context, the iQOO 15R is currently priced at Rs 53,999. If the recent rumour proves correct, we can expect the device to launch in India next year.
