Rumours suggest that Apple was planning to use the same display tech previously used for the iPhone 13. This makes sense because it helps keep costs down. Samsung, BOE, and Tianma were all trying to get a contract for making these displays.

But now, according to a report by IT Home, since Samsung and Apple couldn’t see eye-to-eye on the price, the former backed out. BOE might have used this opportunity to get the deal going.

The report suggests that Samsung said that Apple thought that their $30-per-display offer was a bit too steep. Apple was looking to get the displays for displays at $25 each. Both Samsung and Tianma couldn’t agree on this price, making BOE the sole supplier choice.
