iPhone 16 price drops by over Rs 19,000 with offers during Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026, should you buy it over iPhone 17

Apple announced the iPhone 16 in India in September 2024. Soon after launching the iPhone 18 Pro series and iPhone Duo handsets this year, the company hiked the price of the handset to Rs 89,900 (a Rs 20,000 increase). The handset sits Rs 10,000 lower than the iPhone 17, which now starts at Rs 99,900, up from Rs 82,990. However, you can get the iPhone 16 for under Rs 71,000 with offers during the Amazon Great Indian Festival 2026 sale, implying an almost Rs 19,000 drop from its current price.

iPhone 16 price in India (Buy Now)

Apple iPhone 16 is currently retailing for Rs 76,999 (128GB) on Amazon. At the time of filing, all colours of the model (Ultramarine, Teal, Pink, White and Black) are available on the website. On top of this, you can save an additional Rs 6,250 using SBI credit and debit cards, reducing the effective price to Rs 70,749. However, do note that additional platform fees may apply over and above this price.

iPhone 16 vs iPhone 17: Should you pay extra for the latest base iPhone?

During the festive season, the iPhone 17 can be purchased for around Rs 85,000. For that extra around Rs 15,000, you get a larger 6.3-inch 120Hz screen (compared to the iPhone 16’s 6.1-inch) and an upgraded A19 chipset over the iPhone 16’s A18. Plus, the iPhone 17 offers better battery life and an improved 48MP ultrawide and 18MP Center Stage selfie camera.

Further, the iPhone 17 also offers more storage (256GB) in the base variant compared to  the iPhone 16’s 128GB. Considering these changes, the iPhone 17 can be a viable choice if you have the budget to get one. However, if you operate on a tight budget and can live without a 120Hz screen and the other upgrades stated above, you can get the iPhone 16.
