By now we all know that Apple is trying pretty hard to find a way into the AI race. It has been trying to strike a partnership or find a way so that it can include AI features in its upcoming iOS 18. For the uninitiated, currently, Apple stands last when it comes to incorporating AI features in its smartphones. Now, we hear reports suggest that Apple is trying to change that by finding a way to strike a deal with OpenAI. Read the story for more details.

We had previously heard that Apple was in talks with OpenAI to incorporate AI features in iOS 18. However, those dialogues were not very successful and nothing fruitful was known. Now, it seems like the two companies have started to discuss matters again.

Well, I previously also reported that Apple was in touch with Google to license its Gemini chatbot. It seems like Apple hasn’t made a final decision yet about who will make it to the upcoming iOS 18.

It is also speculated that Apple is planning to integrate a majority of its AI features within the upcoming iOS 18 update, which is expected to drop in May itself. So we might get a clearer picture by then.

It is speculated that the upcoming AI features will make use of Apple’s large language model. We might even get to see chatbot-like features, possibly similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT or alternatives like Anthropic’s Claude.

Collaborating with companies like OpenAI and Google seems like a wise decision as Apple is running on a tight schedule and this will reduce risks. It may also help reduce platform liabilities for the tech giant.
