Facebook to let you search old posts by keyword
Facebook is testing a tool that lets mobile users see any content that was previously available to them through friends or pages they followed.
Facebook Inc. (FB) is testing a new feature on its mobile application that lets people search through old posts from friends by keyword. The tool is in testing phase and is only available to some members of the social network for now.
The update lets mobile users search through content that was previously available to them through friends or pages they followed. The social networking site said in an e-mailed statement, "We’re testing an improvement to search on mobile. In this test you can use keywords to search for posts you’re in the audience for on Facebook.”
The California-based company has dealt with privacy questions for highlighting content that users anticipated would be harder to find. Fcaebook has responded by giving users more control over their settings and has even added options for members to find out why they are served certain ads.
Facebook had launched Graph Search last year which allowed users to search for things people “liked,” photos, and other basic profile information including location, work info, etc. Earlier in Jan Mark Zukerberg stated Graph Search for mobile would be “coming soon.”
Facebook has been testing opening web links on built in browser on Android app for some users. The app will lead people to spend more time on the social networking site that will generate more ad revenue for the company. Facebook has not confirmed that it will be rolling out the update to all users or is just another one of the company's experiments. Also Read: Facebook tests posting stickers in comments
