Apple has reportedly introduced a purchase limit on the iPhone Duo in India and US, under which the customers can only buy a maximum of two units per person. While the restrictions were already listed in countries like China, Singapore, and Hong Kong, the company now seems to be expanding that list. Not only that, but the Cupertino-based tech giant also confirmed that customers in Japan and South Korea must book a store pickup in advance to buy the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro Max, as the in-store purchase will not be available in these countries.
Some users on Reddit reported that Apple is restricting them from purchasing more than two iPhones. According to the reports, Apple’s US online store displays a warning when customers try to purchase more than two iPhone Duo devices in a single order. The message says, ‘A maximum of 2 iPhone can be purchased per customer. Please adjust the total quantity of iPhone Duo in your order before checking out.’
While Apple had already listed purchase limits in markets such as China, Singapore and Hong Kong. There was no such notice for the US market, and the users on Reddit have described the limit as a recent change, while others claim they encountered the same restriction when pre-orders began on October 16.

The timings of the new restrictions are unsure, as earlier there were reports from customers who say they were able to order four devices, making it difficult to establish when the rule first came into effect.
The limitations are not only limited to the above-mentioned market, as when we tried ordering more than two iPhone Duo in India, we also received a similar message. A screenshot of the message is attached below.
Apple has also intimated to the Japanese and South Korean users that the Apple iPhone Duo will not be available on walk-in purchases at launch on October 23. Reports claim that the local websites of the company have already started displaying the notices.

While Apple has not yet officially announced anything, industry watchers suggest that the restriction may be linked to limited stock and Apple’s efforts to prevent scalping. Furthermore, it’s also unclear at the time of writing whether Apple will introduce similar rules in other markets or not.
