Samsung Infinite One-Way Cassette AC launched in India with AI cooling and mood lighting

HIGHLIGHTS

This AC features nine Ambient Edge Lighting modes inspired by the human circadian rhythm

It has Wide WindFree Cooling with around 17,000 micro-holes for draft-free air distribution.

The prices start at Rs 16 lakh, inclusive of GST.

Samsung has launched its Infinite One-Way Cassette AC in India, targeting premium residential and commercial spaces where air conditioning needs to blend with interior design. The new cassette AC combines Samsung’s Wide WindFree Cooling technology with AI-powered controls, SmartThings connectivity and Ambient Edge Lighting. It is available in both VRF and Commercial Split configurations, with capacities ranging from 2.8kW to 7.1kW.

The Infinite One-Way Cassette AC is positioned differently from conventional ceiling-mounted cassette air conditioners. Instead of focusing only on cooling, Samsung has added lighting and connected features intended to make the unit part of the room’s overall ambience. Its 13.8cm-deep body also gives it a relatively slim profile for installation in premium interiors.

Price and availability

Samsung’s Infinite One-Way Cassette AC is available through commercial AC channel partners across India.

The VRF version is offered in 2.8kW, 3.6kW, 5.6kW and 7.1kW cooling capacities. The Commercial Split (CAC) version comes in 3.5kW, 5.2kW and 7.1kW capacities.

The series starts at Rs 16,00,000, inclusive of GST. Samsung has not revealed a separate consumer retail price for individual configurations.

Samsung Infinite One-Way Cassette AC specifications

The 13.8cm depth is one of the more practical aspects of the design. A slimmer indoor unit can make it easier to integrate the AC into modern ceilings, although actual installation requirements will still depend on the building and ducting arrangement.

Samsung has used ASA, or Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate, for the exterior. The company says the material offers UV resistance and is intended to help the unit retain its finish over long-term use.

The biggest visual change is Ambient Edge Lighting. Samsung has added nine lighting modes to the cassette unit, with the modes designed around the natural day-night cycle associated with the human circadian rhythm. The lighting system provides Warm, Natural and Cool options, with High and Low intensity settings. There is also a Smart Lighting Intensity mode that automatically adjusts brightness based on the surrounding environment.

This makes the feature different from the conventional indicator lighting found on most air conditioners. However, the lighting itself is not a cooling feature. Its main purpose is to integrate the AC into the room’s lighting and interior design.

Samsung has also upgraded its WindFree approach for this model. The Wide WindFree Technology uses a wider panel and around 17,000 micro-holes to distribute cooled air more evenly. Instead of directing a concentrated stream of cold air into the room, the system spreads air through these small openings.

For users, the main benefit should be reduced exposure to a direct cold draft. This can be particularly useful in bedrooms, offices and other spaces where occupants remain in one place for long periods.

Samsung also says the new system is designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating noise, although the launch material does not provide specific energy-consumption or noise figures for comparison with the previous generation.

The Cassette AC comes with Wi-Fi to connect directly to the Samsung SmartThings app without requiring an additional connectivity module. Users can remotely monitor and control the AC, adjust cooling settings and access features such as Energy Monitoring and Usage Pattern tracking. The system also supports Voice Control.

Samsung’s AI Comfort Mode is intended to personalise cooling based on usage patterns. Other SmartThings features include Welcome Cooling, Personalised Cooling and Pet Care.

The Infinite One-Way Cassette AC also comes with an Intertek-certified Copper Anti-Bacterial Filter. Samsung says the filter can capture airborne particles and help reduce certain harmful bacteria by up to 99%. The filter also helps keep the heat exchanger cleaner, which Samsung says can support consistent cooling performance.

What Samsung is trying to do

The Infinite One-Way Cassette AC shows Samsung moving further towards treating HVAC products as part of the interior environment rather than standalone appliances. Ambient lighting addresses aesthetics, WindFree technology focuses on comfort, while SmartThings and AI features add connected controls.

The approach makes sense for premium interior spaces, where the appearance and placement of the indoor unit can matter almost as much as its cooling output. It is a premium product, and you should consider aspects like the required cooling capacity, VRF or Commercial Split architecture, installation requirements, and long-term service costs.
