Planning your next trip? Google AI Mode can help you track flight deals, miles and hotels, here is how

HIGHLIGHTS

Google adds AI tools to track flight prices and spot fare changes.

Travellers can now check miles and points needed for flights and hotels.

AI Mode is bringing hotel search and bookings, starting in the US.

Planning a trip usually means a dozen open tabs, endless price comparisons, and the nagging feeling you’re still overpaying somewhere. But Google has you covered, as the company wants to fix that and has rolled out a set of AI-driven upgrades across Search, Flights, and Hotels designed to take the grunt work out of travel planning and put more money back in your pocket. From a new AI Mode feature that builds custom itineraries in seconds, to an AI-powered flight deal finder built for flexible travellers, to smarter hotel price tracking that alerts you the moment rates drop, Google is quietly turning itself into a full-service travel assistant. Here’s a closer look at how these new tools work and how you can start using them to save on your next trip.

Flight price tracking

Google has now added its Flights price tracking feature directly into AI Mode. Now, travellers can simply tell AI Mode the name of the destination they want to travel to with dates and ask AI Mode to monitor fares.

Once you set up the tracking, Google will send an email when prices change for the selected trip. According to Google, AI Mode can access current flight prices from more than 300 airlines and travel websites. At the time of writing, travellers can track flight prices for more than 180 countries and territories.

Check flight and hotel miles

The AI Mode can now not only track flight prices but also check the points or miles you need to claim the rewards for flights and hotel stays. To do so, you can simply ask Google to find nonstop flights and show the miles required through a specific rewards programme.

The same option is available for hotels. Google says the feature is available globally, with initial support from Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Choice Hotels International, Hilton and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. According to the company’s blog post, support for Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM Airlines and Lufthansa Group is expected to be added soon.

Hotel bookings come to Google AI mode

Google is also starting to bring hotel bookings into AI Mode. Users can describe where they want to stay, their dates and hotel preferences. AI Mode can then present hotel options along with reviews and other key details.

After choosing a hotel, users can select ‘Continue on Google’ and complete the reservation through integrated partners. Google says payments can be completed securely using Google Pay. However, it’s important to note that the hotel booking in AI Mode is currently rolling out in the US only and is available in English.
