Not only that, but he added that India has gained considerable experience in dealing with such challenges and is prepared to share its approach with other countries. He further emphasised that citizens need to feel confident when receiving calls and messages, making digital payments, or sharing personal information online. According to him, technology can achieve scale only when it earns people’s trust.
The Prime Minister also pointed out the role of telecom operators in keeping India’s digital ecosystem secure, as he said mobile phones are no longer limited to communication. Rather, they have become an important part of banking, education, healthcare and government services.
According to him, India’s telecom growth has also helped the citizens living in villages and smaller cities to avail internet services, helping them to get the benefits of the government schemes which were unable to reach the actual beneficiaries prior to the expansion. He further stressed that this expansion must go together with stronger security and public trust.
