Anthropic Claude’s Record a skill feature that can automate your tasks is here: How to use it
Anthropic's new Record a skill feature lets Claude learn repetitive tasks through screen recordings and voice explanations.
Users can save recorded workflows as reusable skills, reducing the need for long prompts or manual automation.
The feature is currently available only on the Claude desktop app for paid plan users.
Claude is one of the most used AI tools across the globe, especially when we talk about code generation or research. Anthropic has also constantly worked to improve the AI tool so that its users can make the most out of the tool. Continuing this effort, Anthropic has recently introduced a new feature called ‘Record a skill’, which lets users teach Claude how to perform repetitive tasks without writing lengthy prompts or creating scripts. The feature allows you to record your screen while completing a task and explain how you do it as it records your explanation. Once done, Claude learns the workflow and can replicate it later. Even though the ‘Record a skill’ feature might seem complex at first, it is quite simple to use and is expected to reduce the time one spends on repeating tasks.

How to use Claude’s Record a skill feature

If you want to teach a skill to your Claude app, then all you need to do is open the Claude desktop app on your device > ensure that you’re in the Cowork space > press the ‘+’ icon > choose ‘Record a skill’.
All you have to do now is perform the task normally. Claude will record your keyboard input, mouse clicks, screen activity, and voice explanations. The recording will then be processed into a structured skill and saved in the user’s skill library. Instead of going through the entire procedure again, you can use the skill from the library.
Benefits
The new feature removes the need to write long prompts or create manual workflows for repetitive tasks. Furthermore, it also allows the users to teach Claude through simple demonstrations, making automation more accessible for people with little or no technical background.
Since the learned skills are saved, users can quickly repeat common tasks whenever required. The feature also fits into Claude Cowork’s larger set of tools, including file access, memory, connectors, and projects, helping users build a more capable AI assistant over time.
