Google recently started rolling out Android 17 to eligible Pixel smartphones. While the update brings new features and improvements, some users are reporting touchscreen problems after installing the latest software. Several Pixel users have shared on Reddit that their phone’s display started behaving strangely after updating to Android 17. The issue appears to affect the Pixel 7, Pixel 8, Pixel 9 and the Pixel 10 series.

According to user reports, the touchscreen problems appear in different ways, reports Android Authority. In some cases, the display temporarily stops responding to touch inputs. Another unusual issue reported by some users involves scrolling. For example, when a user swipes up, the phone may react as if they swiped down. The problem does not seem to be limited to a specific app. Touchscreen issues can likely appear anywhere.

Google is aware of the complaints. The official Pixel Community account on Reddit has responded to one of the affected users, according to the report. Google suggested clearing the cache of the Pixel Launcher app. However, a user claimed this solution did not fix the issue.

One Pixel 8 Pro owner claimed that disabling the Smooth Display feature solved the issue on their phone. However, other users said the same method did not work for them.

For now, Google has not provided a permanent solution for the touchscreen issue. Users experiencing the problem may have to wait for a future software update.

The touchscreen bug is not the only issue reported after the Android 17 update. Recently, some Pixel users also complained about losing access to home screen widgets.
