OpenAI and Anthropic executives recently got into a cheeky exchange on X (formerly Twitter) after a user said his Anthropic account was suspended. The user claimed this happened after he followed a setup earlier shared by OpenAI Codex chief Thibault ‘Tibo’ Sottiaux. Anthropic executive Boris Cherny later stepped in and said the suspension was likely triggered by a different account classifier and had nothing to do with using a rival AI model. Tibo then took a subtle jab at Anthropic while announcing a surprise reset of usage limits for paid ChatGPT Work and Codex users. Now, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has reacted to the exchange.
It all started when a user named Alex Getman said he followed instructions previously shared by Tibo to use GPT-5.6 Sol through Claude Code. He claimed his account was suspended by Anthropic.
Tibo responded to the complaint and wrote, “I would love to help, but I don’t work at Anthropic. It does seem odd that they would ban your account for using their harness with another model. Anyone else in the same situation?”
Anthropic executive Boris Cherny then responded and clarified that the company does not suspend users for running other models through its harness. He said another account classifier had most likely triggered the suspension. He even suggested Tibo to join Anthropic. “We are hiring if you would like to work at Anthropic!”
Tibo later replied with another cheeky comment while praising GPT 5.6 Sol. “That’s right, GPT-5.6 Sol is awesome and can be used pretty much anywhere, including in the CC harness. To celebrate this, together with the fact that I’m not going anywhere… I have reset usage limits for all paid users of ChatGPT Work and Codex. Have fun out there!”

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has now reacted to Tibo’s comments. Sharing his appreciation for the OpenAI executive, Altman wrote, “lol another one of the things i like most about openai is tibo.”
In another post, Altman praised the OpenAI team for focusing on customers and helping users succeed. He wrote, “one of the things I like most about the openai team is how focused they are on our customers and users succeeding, and how much they celebrate it.” “I would be pretty impressed if the team just made magic intelligence in the sky. But I am extra impressed that they do so with such a focus on making sure everyone wins (ranging from stuff like business privacy to low prices to predictable policies to more).”
