Xbox Live Gold membership required for Xbox One’s DVR features
Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox Live Gold membership is required to have access to Xbox One DVR features, Skype and Start Match
Microsoft has confirmed that a Xbox Live Gold subscription is mandatory to have access to Xbox One‘s DVR game feature and video sharing functionality. Gold members will have exclusive access to Skype and Smart Match multi-player matchmaking.
Xbox Live Gold’s membership cost $60 annually in North America.Xbox 360 users ‘ who have existing Gold accounts will have access to Skype,DVR,Smart Match and much more when Xbox One launches this November.Microsoft confirmed that Game DVR features will be limited to Xbox Live Gold members.Microsoft responded saying ‘ I can confirm that Game DVR features will be available to Xbox Live Gold members only.”
The DVR feature allows Gold members to record up to 5 minutes of in-game footage for editing and uploading to Xbox live service.Players can now save the last 30 seconds of a game instantly during times when pausing the game may seem highly unlikely, such as during an online multi-player match.
Sony’s Share feature for the PS4 allows users to record and upload up-to 15 minutes of footage and not restricted to just PlayStation Plus users.
The Xbox One is all slated for a launch this November at a price of £429/€499.
