PS4, Xbox One listed online for Rs. 40,000, may come to India in December
HIGHLIGHTS

Online retailer Snapdeal has both the PS4 and Xbox One listed on its website. Both the consoles are surprisingly priced the same, with EMI options and pre-orders available.

It seems the Indian showdown for the next gen consoles has begun, as both the PS4 and Xbox One are now listed on online retailer Snapdeal.

While both Sony and Microsoft have been tight lipped about the exact launch dates of their next gen consoles in India, Snapdeal seems pretty confident about the launch in December.

No other online retailers have started taking pre-orders for the console, except Game4u that started taking pre-orders for the PS4 back in July.

Snapdeal has put up both consoles for pre-orders where buyers need to pay Rs.1,999 to book their console and the remaining amount at the launch of the product. The price of both the consoles is listed at Rs. 40,000 which seems a bit strange as the Xbox One is priced higher than the PS4 in the US and European markets, so theoretically, the PS4 should cost around Rs.25,137 and the Xbox One should be around Rs.31,437, going by the current rupee dollar exchange rate.

The PS4 is going to be launched today in the U.S and South America, while Europe will see a launch later on November 29. Sony’s India website also mentioned that the PS4 might launch in India late in 2013, but it removed that listing from its website which was an indication that the launch might be delayed.

The Xbox One will be launched in the U.S on November 22 and is scheduled for a launch in 14 countries in its first launch phase. The second phase has not been announced yet, but it appears India is not likely to feature in the second list as well. Earlier Microsoft clearly stated that the Xbox One will be released officially later next year in India.

However, there is still no official confirmation from either Sony or Microsoft about the exact India launch dates and this could just be a ploy by Snapdeal to create some hype over the eagerly anticipated consoles. Snapdeal has also put EMI options for both the PS4 and Xbox One with 3,6,9 and 12 months installments. For more details on the EMI options, you can visit the retailer’s official website.
