Metal Gear Solid 4 25th Anniversary Edition to launch next month

To celebrate 25 years of the franchise, Konami will release ‘Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots 25th Anniversary Edition’ in December for Rs. 1,599. The game will be available in the first week of December exclusively for the PS3.

While the game is still the same as the one we played back in 2008, there are two key differences to this rerelease. First is that the game will now support trophies. When MGS4 was originally launched it lacked trophies support. The second change is that the game will have a one-time install on the hard drive of the PS3. At launch, the hard drive of the PS3 wasn't of high capacity and the game would install chapters as the game progressed.

Metal Gear Solid 4 takes place five years after the incidences of Metal Gear Solid 2 and players once again don the role of Solid Snake. If you aren’t familiar with the franchise then you are in luck. The original PlayStation Classic Metal Gear Solid 1 is available for download via the PlayStation Network. The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which includes Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and Peace Walker, can be purchased for the PS3 for Rs. 2,799.

When Metal Gear Solid 4 was launched, it came with Metal Gear Online, a multiplayer experience, where players testing their combat and stealth skills against each other in a variety of modes. This service was however shutdown in June so don't expect the same to be active in the 25th anniversary edition.

The first Metal Gear Solid game was released in 1987 for the MSX2 system. The series has been created by Hideo Kojima and developed and published by Konami. The first Metal Gear Solid game was a first of its kind stealth game with a bit of action where players had to sneak past the enemy rather than take them up head on. The game can be defined as the birthplace of the stealth action game genre.
