We all know by now that GTA 6 will be the biggest game of 2026. But, how much is too much? A new report from games industry analytics firm Newzoo might have the answer. The report says that Rockstar Games’ upcoming title could generate more than $3 billion during its first week after launch in November. That’s not all; the report also predicts that the game has already earned around $260 million thanks to pre-orders. If these projections turn out to be true, GTA 6 could shatter several industry records and become one of the biggest entertainment launches ever. Curious? Read on to know more.

As mentioned already, GTA 6 is currently on track to earn between $3.3 billion and $5.2 billion worldwide by the end of its launch week as per the aforementioned report. This estimate is based on the game’s current pre-order momentum and assumes an average selling price of $88 per copy. While the Standard Edition is priced at $80, the Ultimate Edition costs $100, bringing the projected average higher.
So even if GTA 6 manages to hit the lower end of Newzoo’s forecast, it would comfortably become one of the highest-grossing game launches ever. The report highlights just how much anticipation there is around Rockstar’s next blockbuster, especially after years of waiting and multiple record-breaking trailers.
That said, these numbers remain projections based on current trends. Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive have not shared any official sales expectations or pre-order figures. So, it is wise to take this information with a pinch of salt.
Newzoo also shared estimates for how much the game earned from early pre-orders. According to the report, GTA 6 generated around $180 million in digital pre-orders during its first week across the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. It is to be noted that these figures only include purchases made through the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store during the final week of June.
The report does not account for physical editions or disc-less retail bundles, meaning the actual figure could be higher.
Using GTA 5’s lifetime console player distribution as a reference, Newzoo estimates that these six markets account for roughly 69 per cent of the game’s global console audience. Based on that, it projects GTA 6 has already crossed $260 million in worldwide pre-orders.
