Angry Birds Star Wars II is launching on Sept 19. The game will feature Telepods, the ability for users to interact with the game with the use of physical toys.

Developer Rovio has announced that the second iteration of Angry Birds Star Wars will be hitting mobile devices on September 19. Angry Birds Star Wars II will follow the story of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, Episode 2: Attack of the Clones and Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. The game will also feature a “Join the Pork Side” in which gamers will be able to don the role of the antagonists.

Angry Birds Star Wars II will feature intractable toys called Telepods. You can place these toys on the camera of your smartphone/tablet to unlock features and add characters to your lineup. At launch, Angry Birds Star wars II will feature over 30 Telepods. Players can scan these Telepods to unlock in-game characters and powers.

Angry Birds Star Wars II will also see the launch of merchandise such as toys, clothing, books and other accessories. The launch of the merchandise will also launch this September alongside the game.

“Angry Birds Star Wars was a blockbuster hit for us and Lucasfilm with over 100 million downloads since its release,” said Rovio executive vice president of games Jami Laes in a press statement. “We are thrilled to be able to introduce the exciting next chapter in the Angry Birds Star Wars saga to our fans around the world. Some of the most amazing character additions are versions of young Anakin, Mace Windu and Darth Maul. Hasbro’s Telepods technology also provides a great way to extend the experience beyond the app and bring a whole new dimension to the gameplay.”
