Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece is one of the platform’s biggest global hits. If you’ve already finished watching season 2, you must be wondering what lies ahead for Monkey D. Luffy and his crew. Well, the good news is that the journey is far from over. Netflix has already confirmed a third season. The announcement was made even before season 2 premiered.
The live-action series first arrived in 2023 and is inspired by Eiichiro Oda’s legendary manga of the same name. The story follows Monkey D. Luffy, a young pirate with a dream to become the Pirate King. To achieve that goal, he sails across dangerous seas, meeting new allies along the way. Over time, these friends come together to form the Straw Hat Pirates.

Netflix has not shared an exact release date of One Piece season 3 yet. However, reports suggest that the new season could arrive around mid-2027. That may feel like a long wait, but a series like One Piece takes time to produce.
The show features imaginative worlds, large-scale action scenes and characters with special abilities called Devil Fruit powers. Creating these visual effects and bringing the adventure to life requires heavy visual effects and a long post-production process.

The third season is expected to explore the Alabasta arc from the original manga and anime. In this storyline, Luffy and his crew head to the kingdom of Alabasta, which is struggling with rising political tension. A key character in this arc is Princess Nefertari Vivi, who seeks help from the Straw Hat Pirates to protect her homeland. The main villain of the season will be Crocodile, a powerful pirate secretly creating trouble.
Season 3 will also introduce new characters, with Xolo Mariduena playing Portgas D. Ace and Cole Escola portraying theatrical assassin Bon Clay.
