One of the most anticipated superhero thriller series ever, Lanterns, has finally revealed the date of its release date, much to the delight of DC fans around the globe. The latest HBO Max series combines mystery, thriller, and crime in one story, where two space cops try to solve the murder in an intriguing case. The reason why the series is becoming even more popular is that it has two timelines, which involve both the current investigation and the events related to the murder that took place in Rushville in 2016. Thanks to the dark and suspenseful plot, the series will definitely become one of the top releases of 2026.
Viewers waiting to watch the series from the comfort of their sofa are in luck as the makers just announced that the series will make its OTT debut exclusively on HBO Max starting August 16, 2026. The first season will consist of eight episodes.
The story follows Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, an experienced space cop who is paired with John Stewart, played by Aaron Pierre, a young new recruit. Together, they begin investigating a mysterious murder that slowly unfolds into something much larger and darker. As the investigation proceeds further, there is a change in the storyline that makes us go back to the timeline of 2016 when the shooting incident took place at Rushville.
Lanterns take us through past incidents that connect to the present one while uncovering conspiracies, mysteries, and horrors of the ancient age. Along with unravelling all of the abovementioned elements, there is yet another storyline in Lanterns that involves the bond between Jordan and Stewart and the associated elements of mentorship and accountability.
