Fans of Bridgerton have something exciting to look forward to. The next chapter of the popular period drama is officially in production. This time, the focus will be on Francesca Bridgerton, a character who has mostly remained in the background so far. The upcoming season will also introduce the series’ first same-sex romance.

According to showrunner Jess Brownell, the new season will continue the tradition of emotional storytelling and romantic turns that fans love. In the upcoming season, the spotlight will be on Francesca Bridgerton. Francesca is dealing with the heartbreaking loss of her husband, John Stirling. After his death, she chooses to step away from society and live a quieter life. Nearly two years later, Francesca starts thinking about returning to society. Her life takes a new turn when Michaela, John’s cousin, comes to London to take over responsibility for the Stirling family estate. As the two spend more time together, they begin to form a close connection. This unexpected relationship forces Francesca to rethink her feelings, her future and what she truly wants from love and life.

Netflix has not yet announced an official release date of Bridgerton season 5. Reports suggest that the wait might be a long one, with the next season likely arriving sometime between late 2027 and early 2028.
Netflix has already confirmed that the show will return for a sixth season. Interestingly, this renewal was announced even before the premiere of season 4.
