Bridgerton is officially coming back with a fifth season. While earlier seasons focused on different members of the Bridgerton family, the upcoming chapter will place Francesca Bridgerton at the centre of the story. Inspired by Julia Quinn’s novel When He Was Wicked, the new season will explore themes of grief, self-discovery and finding love again. Bridgerton season 5 will also introduce the show’s first same-sex romance. Here is everything we know so far about Bridgerton season 5, including its release timeline, plot and more.
The upcoming season will focus on Francesca Bridgerton as she struggles to move forward after losing her husband, John Stirling. His death leaves a deep impact on her, leading her to step away from society and live a quieter life. As time passes, Francesca begins considering a return to social life. However, things change when Michaela Stirling, John’s cousin, comes back to manage the Stirling family estate.
Francesca and Michaela gradually spend more time together. What begins as friendship slowly develops into a stronger emotional connection. Their growing relationship helps Francesca heal from her loss and discover a new side of herself.
