HIGHLIGHTS

Twitter has rolled out a new update for Android and iOS that lets you check out the most popular tweets on your timeline.

Twitter has released a new feature for Android and iOS that shows the number of tweets, replies and favorites that tweets on your timeline have received. The new feature will allow users to understand which tweets are popular.

No indication has been given when this feature will be launched on the Web version but Twitter has sometimes used its mobile apps as a testing platform before rolling out to the desktop version. Twitter, adding in stats for tweets may feel like peer pressure to favoriting or retweeting posts but it will also help users in understanding the virality of tweets.

Twitter has launched some features on its site including a new look with a whiter design and bigger buttons. The revamped design has been launched in sync with its official mobile apps. The update features a prominent home bar for logged-in users that allows you to tap on it to access the normal feed. The new design has Twitter’s logo in the top center of the page. On the right hand side is a search box, Settings and Direct Messages button. On the right most corner, you have the Compose button.

According to reports Twitter may soon enter the e-commerce platform with Twitter Commerce. The new update will allow users to purchase products directly from the site which has also tied up with the US e-commerce site named ‘Fancy for the venture.’ Twitter Commerce tweets will be shown inside of Twitter users’ streams similar to promotional tweets and will appear inside Twitter’s Discovery section. Users will be able to see photos of products that are up for sale along with a brief description of each product. There will also be a section for related products. Users will be able to purchase products through the “Buy with” button with their credit cards. According to reports, transactions made on Twitter Commerce will be “handled securely within the Twitter app.”
