Google’s Gboard for Android gets emoji suggestion and text translation support
HIGHLIGHTS

Gboard now integrates Google Search and Translate for new in-app features. It also supports emoji and GIF suggestion, and new backgrounds.

Google has updated its Gboard virtual keyboard app with support for real-time translation, emoji and GIF suggestions. The features already seen with Gboard 6.1 beta are now rolling out to all users with the latest update.

With the new update, Gboard essentially gets direct integration with the Google Translate app. Gboard users can now translate from one language to another in real-time while typing, without the need to switch between apps. It also allows users to enter emojis or GIFs without having to pick one from the emoji selection tool.

Google's Gboard was first introduced as a standalone keyboard app for Apple's iOS operating system. The keyboard instantly became one of the most downloaded keyboard apps, and Google eventually replaced the stock keyboard on Android with Gboard. Today's update also brings support for a new, dynamic background option.

Gboard already offers integrated search, and with translation also at hand, the keyboard app is trying to offer more options than ever before. The update is being rolled out gradually for all Gboard keyboard users.
