iPhone 6S & 6S Plus midnight launch mania in New Delhi

iPhone 6S & 6S Plus midnight launch mania in New Delhi
HIGHLIGHTS

Apple officially started selling the iPhone 6S & 6S Plus in India at midnight last night. Crowds poured into stores and team Digit was on ground taking in all the excitement.

The much anticipated Apple iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus were launched with much pomp and show in India last night at the stroke of midnight. Cashing in on the iPhone mania, most Apple resellers kept their doors open to eager customers who waited for as long as 5 hours for the clock to strike 12.

Team Digit was on ground to catch the euphoria and find out just what it is that attracts buyers to this iconic smartphone by Apple. The first thing we noticed was that even though the buzz around the launch of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus was very evident, the crowds haunting these stores were much lesser this year as compared to last year's hysteria around the iPhone 6 launch. Nevertheless, we got to speak to a bunch of Apple loyalists about their favourite features on the iPhone 6S and 6S plus.

As expected, there was resounding agreement on Apple's new 3D Touch technology being the most exciting feature of both its devices. Apple seems to have done a good job promoting its proprietary technology. 3D Touch is a new way of interacting with the iPhone, which senses how much pressure you apply to the display.

Apart from 3D Touch and its new 'Peek & Pop' fucntionality, crowds were very pleased with the overall form factor and of course, the much touted addition of 'Rose Gold' in the family of colours. A pair of friends travelled all the way from Dehradun, about 250km, to buy the iPhone 6S 64GB model, which seemed to be the most popular storage option people were choosing.

Customers line up awaiting the iPhone 6S & 6S Plus

Another very interesting gentleman from Panchsheel Park in New Delhi bought the the iPhone 6S Plus, 128GB, which happens to be the most expensive of the lot. When asked what was the one feature he loved the most about his new iPhone he replied saying, "This phone has great storage for my movies and has the latest clarity." What he probably meant was that he is a fan of the 5.5 inch, 1080X1920p display but to an Apple fan what matters the most is just getting their hands on that device as soon as possible.

Amongst the fanfare we also found a few disgruntled buyers who paid as much as Rs. 10,000 to pre-order the device and skip the queue, but unfortunately, due to heavy demand, these people had to wait hours before they could step inside the Apple store to claim their brand new devices.

That said, the Apple frenzy will linger for a few more weeks as people experience the two new iPhones. We at Digit have a cool first impressions video on our YouTube channel, and review coming up very soon. Till then enjoy your brand new iPhones and give us some feedback in the comments section.
