The next PlayStation State of Play is coming soon: What to expect

Sony PlayStation is all set to showcase yet another State of Play on June 2 and the expectations from this one are quite high. During the last State of Play, we got a bunch of exciting announcements including a new Resident Evil trailer, God of War trilogy remake announcement, Death Stranding 2’s PC release, and more. Now this time, the State of Play will be over an hour long and is expected to bring with it some long-awaited announcements. Let’s delve into the details.

A deeper look at Marvel’s Wolverine

Sony has confirmed that we will be getting an in-depth look at Marvel’s Wolverine. However, they have remained tight-lipped on what exactly lies in store. Since the game is set to launch on September 15, it is safe to predict that we might get to see more gameplay or story details. So far, 2 trailers of the game have been released and they’ve set the tone of what all we can expect from Logan’s brutal and unforgiving world.

Now GTA 6 is undoubtedly the biggest game launching this year. And even the smallest details about the game often make headlines. Now Rockstar Games revealing something about GTA 6 during State of Play isn’t entirely wishful thinking. Considering how GTA 6 is coming to consoles only, and how the PS5 is the default option for many console gamers, it would make a lot of sense for Sony and Rockstar to partner up for some kind of big GTA 6 reveal or announcement. And with millions of PlayStation fans tuning into State of Play events, it could also be the perfect stage for it.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 reveal

Another game that fans are hoping to see at the State of Play is Hogwarts Legacy 2. Rumours around a possible teaser or announcement regarding the game have been doing rounds online since the past few days.

The speculation around the game started after known leakster Tidux posted “SOP- HL2 Soon” on X recently. Many fans believe this could be hinting towards Hogwarts Legacy 2 making an appearance during the June 2 showcase. Since the first Hogwarts Legacy became one of the biggest Harry Potter games ever made, expectations from the sequel are already sky-high.

God of War Trilogy Remake details

After Sony briefly teased the God Of War trilogy remake during the last State of Play, there is a good chance of getting another update this time.

Until now, rumours are that the original God of War trilogy could return with upgraded visuals, modern combat improvements, and PS5-specific enhancements. Sony has just announced the remake, but hasn’t shared many details yet.

If we indeed get some more deets around the game, this could easily become one of the biggest reveals of the event, especially for long-time PlayStation fans who grew up playing the original trilogy on the PS2 and PS3.

About Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

Ubisoft is also working on the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake which is titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. While the company has shared several teasers already, we expect to see more details during State of Play.

Black Flag is still considered one of the best Assassin’s Creed games ever made, thanks to the combat in the sea, open-world exploration, and pirate-themed gameplay. Apart from graphical improvements, the game is also expected to be packed with gameplay refinements and modern mechanics that bring the experience closer to newer Assassin’s Creed titles.

How to watch livestream

As mentioned already, the State of Play will take place on June 2. For those in India, this means 3:30 am, June 3. The livestream will run for over 60 minutes and will feature announcements, gameplay reveals, and updates from PlayStation Studios as well as third-party developers. As for where you can catch all this action, the event will be streamed live on PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.
