Runway 34 is a thriller movie based on a real-life incident that took place in 2015. It is the tale of Captain Vikrant Khanna - a flying prodigy whose flight takes a mysterious trajectory after take-off from an international destination. The movie is inspired by the true event of the Jet Airways Doha to Kochi flight 9W 555 that had a narrow escape on 18 August 2015. The flight faced difficulties while landing at Cochin International Airport due to bad weather and lack of visibility in the early morning hours. Runway 34 has recreated the 'gravest' safety incident that occurred at any of the Indian airports. Nearly 150 people were on board the aircraft including the crew members whose lives were saved by Captain Vikrant Khanna.
The visibility at the airport was low at the time of landing due to the haze that came out of heavy rain during the previous night. Captain Vikrant Khanna held the flight for almost half an hour and then decided to divert the aircraft to Trivandrum. However, the visibility at Trivandrum was also less and the pilots declared “May Day”. They managed to land the aircraft 'blindly' on the seventh attempt. If he hadn’t landed the plane the flight would have crashed due to lack of fuel. Watch the action-packed thriller to know more.
