Samsung is all set to introduce its next-generation foldable devices- the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8. While we have already talked about the Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8, let’s talk about the Galaxy Z Fold 8. As per the recent supply chain leaks, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 may get a wider, shorter “passport-style” design that will compete with the Apple iPhone Ultra (when launched). The reports also suggest that it can be Samsung’s thinnest and lightest foldables yet. Here is everything we know
As per the reports, Samsung may unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8 during a Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 22, 2026. The pre-orders may begin on the same day, with the commercial availability likely to start in early August.

Among the most talked about things on the internet is its design. It is said to be a wider outer display with a more conventional smartphone-like aspect ratio. The device may measure just 4.5mm when unfolded and around 9.7mm when folded and can weigh 201 grams. The device may also get new hinge and flexible OLED panel technology.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. It may get storage options: 256GB and 512GB.
Speaking of the display, it may get a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display and a 5.5-inch cover screen. However, the camera setup may get some big changes. Samsung is reportedly dropping the dedicated telephoto camera. This means there can be a dual 50MP camera setup. For selfies and video calls, the device may get a 10MP sensor on the cover display while the inner screen may get a 4MP camera.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rumoured to pack a 4,800mAh battery with support for 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. On the software side, the foldable is expected to ship with Android 17-based One UI 9 and receive seven years of Android OS and security updates. Samsung is also likely to expand its Galaxy AI suite.
