After the Note 17, Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi 17 5G in India. The device offers good battery life, a large display and everyday performance. The all-new Redmi 17 comes with a 7,900mAh battery, making it one of the most battery-focused devices in the segment. It also offers a 120Hz display, a Snapdragon 4 series processor, fast charging, IP64 rating, expandable storage and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device will be available on sale starting September 10.
The Redmi 17 5G features a 6.9-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 825 nits of HBM brightness and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The device comes with TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light, flicker-free viewing and circadian-friendly operation.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, built using a 4nm manufacturing process. The octa-core processor has a peak clock speed of 2.4GHz and is paired with 5G connectivity. The biggest highlight is the 7,900mAh battery, which supports 45W fast charging. The phone can also be used for wired reverse charging to power compatible devices.
For photography, the Redmi 17 5G gets a 50MP AI dual-camera setup on the rear. Camera features include Night Mode, Portrait Mode, HDR and Document Mode. On the front, there is an 8MP camera with Portrait and Night modes, along with a soft-light ring for selfies in darker surroundings.
Other features include dual stereo speakers, an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and AI face unlock. Storage can be expanded by up to 2TB using a microSD card, while the phone also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. It runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3.
The Redmi 17 5G is available in two configurations in India. The 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 23,999, while the 8GB RAM + 128GB model costs Rs 26,999. The smartphone will be sold in Absolute Black, Endless Blue and Eternal Orange colour options, with the latter variants featuring a vegan leather finish. It will be available on Xiaomi’s official website, Amazon India and Xiaomi retail stores.
