Apple is reportedly working on one of its biggest iPhone upgrades to celebrate the iPhone’s 20th anniversary. According to recent leaks, the firm is testing a new device with a 7-inch screen. If true, then it would be the largest iPhone display ever. If that was not enough, the device is also rumoured to feature improved processor capabilities, higher RAM, fast charging, and a big battery. Apple has not confirmed any of these details, but the latest rumours say the anniversary iPhone could be very different from the regular lineup. While Apple has not yet announced anything related to its iPhone anniversary edition, the latest leaks suggest that it may house a 7-inch display. If the rumour turns out to be true, then it would be larger than any iPhone Apple has released so far.
With the bigger screen, the anniversary edition could offer a more immersive experience for watching videos, gaming and multitasking. Moreover, it may also help Apple to better compete with large-screen flagship smartphones available from other brands.
Early reports suggest that Apple is planning to ship the 20th-year anniversary device with the upcoming A21 Pro chipset, which is expected to be built using TSMC’s advanced 2-nanometre manufacturing process.
Not only that, but the device may also house 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. Leaks also point to the smartphone coming packed with a 6,000mAh silicon-anode battery clubbed with 40W wired charging support. It may also receive 25W MagSafe charging and Qi2 wireless charging capabilities. The camera details for the smartphone are still under wraps.
The special anniversary iPhone is expected to arrive in 2027, marking two decades since the original iPhone debuted. There are no official announcements regarding the device, but industry watchers believe that it may land with a price tag of around Rs 1,89,900.
