Apple iPhone 18 Pro may launch with higher price tag: Here is how much it might cost

HIGHLIGHTS

Apple will reportedly increase the price of the iPhone 18 Pro as the company is dealing with rising costs of memory and other components.

The iPhone 18 Pro could start at around $1,199.

Apple may be absorbing some of the additional costs itself.

Apple is expected to launch the new Pro models- the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max- next month. If you’re planning to buy one of those devices, I have some bad news for you. Apple will reportedly increase the price of the iPhone 18 Pro as the company is dealing with rising costs of memory and other components. The company has already raised prices across several major product categories, including Macs and iPads. Some Mac and iPad models became around 23 per cent more expensive on average. Apple may now have no choice but to raise iPhone prices.

How much the iPhone 18 Pro may cost

The biggest question is how much the iPhone 18 Pro will cost. Apple is closely watching how rivals such as Samsung and Google are dealing with higher component prices. Both companies have increased the prices of their latest smartphones by around $100.

If Apple follows a similar approach, the iPhone 18 Pro could start at around $1,199, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. That would represent a rise of roughly 9 per cent. It would also be a much smaller increase than the hikes seen on some Mac and iPad models.

Apple may absorb some of the higher costs

Given the severity of the memory shortage, the reported price jump would be a relatively modest increase. It also suggests Apple may be absorbing some of the additional costs itself, according to the report. The tech giant has already warned about pressure on its gross margins this quarter.

However, Apple has room to push the price higher if it chooses to. The iPhone has a large and loyal customer base, which may allow the tech giant to make a bigger increase.

Apple’s new Upgrade subscription program is also expected to make higher prices easier for customers to accept. For those unaware, the program allows buyers to spread the cost through monthly payments, instead of paying the full amount upfront.
