Apple has officially introduced its first ever foldable smartphone for the fans globally. Apple calls it iPhone Ultra and it offers a compact passport style form factor. The device aims to offer seamless multi-tasking, thanks to its consistent aspect ratio. It also has a premium yet durable hinge mechanism offering great durability to the device. Interestingly, when opened, the device is thinnest iPhone ever.
The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR display and a 5.4-inch outer panel. Both screens support ProMotion, Always-On functionality and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. Apple has added a nano-texture finish to the inner display to reduce reflections and make the crease less noticeable.
The phone is built from grade 5 titanium and uses Ceramic Shield protection, with an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Touch ID is integrated into the side button, replacing Face ID, while the hinge uses more than 100 components to control the opening and closing motion.
For photography, the iPhone Duo gets a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with sensor-shift stabilisation and a 2x optical-quality zoom, alongside a 48-megapixel Fusion Ultra Wide camera. It can record 4K video at 120fps in Dolby Vision. The foldable design also enables features such as Duo Preview, Smart Take and Dual Capture.
Under the hood is the 2nm A20 Pro chip with a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU and dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple claims up to 35 percent better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro. The device can deliver up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner screen and up to 44 hours using the outer display.
The iPhone Duo is available in star white and night sky, and starts at Rs 2,99,900 in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage capacities.
Pre-orders open on October 16, with sales beginning October 23 in more than 70 countries, including India. The phone will ship with iOS 27.1, while Apple Pencil support is expected to arrive later this year.
