As children grow, their fingerprints and eye scans change. That is why the government asks parents to update their child’s biometric details twice. The first time is around the age of 5 and the second time is when they are 15. If you don’t update the biometrics of your Aadhaar, then it can cause problems later with school admissions, scholarships, and exam registrations. The good news is that parents can currently get their child’s Aadhaar biometric information updated free of charge. But who is eligible, when is the last date, and what documents are required? In this article, we explain everything you need to know about the Aadhaar biometric update, including the deadline and the steps to complete the process.

How to book an online appointment

How to book an online appointment

Follow the easy steps mentioned below for making your appointment online:

1. Visit the official website for booking your appointment for Aadhaar.

2. Select your city and select the nearest centre.

3. Service to be selected as ‘Aadhaar Update’.

4. Select your date and timing.

5. Enter all details of the child and proceed with your booking.

6. Take a printout of the appointment slip.

Next, bring your child along with all documents to the centre on the chosen day. Staff there will capture the fingerprints, eye scan, and photo directly into the system. This part cannot be skipped, since biometrics need a person to be physically present. Once done, you get a receipt with a number to track the update. It usually reflects in a few days, though it can take longer in some cases.
