DevDay 2026 announcements: ChatGPT maker OpenAI announced a host of new AI-related products and updates to its existing lineup of tools, including ChatGPT, Codex and other models at its DevDay 2026 developer conference. For starters, the Sam Altman-led company introduced an always-on agent, ‘Dots’, that can take responsibilities on the user’s behalf and offer assistance 24×7.
The upgraded GPT-6.1 Sol is claimed to offer close to Astra-level intelligence. Further, the new Pro 500 plan is said to offer perks like the highest usage limits and Astra Ultrafast. However, do note that availability of these updates and new tools is plan-specific.

For a detailed look, here are all the major announcements by the ChatGPT maker.
Dots: The always-on agent can fulfil day-to-day tasks on a user’s behalf and optimise the work based on their preferences. It will be powered by GPT-6 Astra and can connect to thousands of apps via plugins to complete the assigned work. Besides text, users can also voice call their personalised dot.
GPT-6.1 Sol: The update to GPT-6 Sol is claimed to offer “exceptionally strong” agentic coding and professional use. It can deliver close to Astra-level intelligence at 1/5th the cost. It offers improved writing and coding capabilities and can execute multi-level workflows.
Ultrafast: For users unwilling to compromise on speed, Ultrafast can offer up to eight times faster token generation. This translates to up to 300 tokens/second in Codex.
The new Pro 500 plan brings the highest usage allowance (25x of ChatGPT Plus) and includes access to Astra Ultrafast. Besides this, the company also said users can now use their ChatGPT plan with tools such as “Cognition’s Devin, Notion, Vercel, T3, OpenClaw and Dactyl.” Similar to “Sign in with Google”, users can now sign in to a range of tools with a ChatGPT account and link plugins.
Plugin extensions will let developers pin their plugin in the sidebar and make interactive panels. Plugin Creator will get a reworked submission flow that can offer “clearer feedback”. Plus, improved discovery will help users find more relevant plugins. Further, ChatGPT plugins can now be added to your sites.
OpenAI also advertised plugin-based automations that trigger based on changes in a connected app. For instance, a user can ask ChatGPT to monitor new tasks on a project board. “When one comes in, ChatGPT can read the linked documents and draft a plan,” OpenAI said. The new ChatGPT Space will help build a collaborative environment among teammates, ChatGPT and a personalised dot to exchange knowledge.
Further, Pages can serve as a “new type of document”, which consolidates information and allows feedback and contributions from team members. Moving on, collaborative slides will allow multiple team members to work on a presentation. As part of the collaborative effort, ChatGPT users can add team members to collaborative spaces and share documents and plugins or delegate tasks.
In Slack and Microsoft Teams, Business and Enterprise users can mention @ChatGPT for work-related assistance. The Meetings plugin can note down details and save summaries in ChatGPT Space and command the AI model to take up relevant tasks. The AI company also added Shareable profiles that let users showcase their Sites and plugins to others.

Codex and API
Codex will now work in the cloud, enabling cross-platform functionality from the web, mobile and desktop. Moreover, Codex CLI will let users begin and handle tasks via voice. Other updates in Codex include a new Code Review experience, Codex Security Cloud, computer use support in the Agents API, Decisions API for select plans and Bedrock Managed Agents to create agents that run entirely in AWS.
As for other notable announcements: For businesses worried about privacy, the company showcased Private Intelligence, which offers zero data retention with safety reviews, and previewed Private Inference with confidential computing and strict controls. Lastly, the availability of these features varies depending on which plan ChatGPT-maker’s plan you have subscribed.
