Meta Muse AI agent now available on Instagram, here is how to set it up

Meta has expanded access to its Muse AI agent by bringing it to Instagram. Muse was introduced earlier this month as a personal AI agent that can do more than answer questions. It can complete tasks on a user’s behalf, including sending emails, booking travel and filling out online forms. Muse was initially available through the Muse app and WhatsApp. Now, users can add the AI agent directly to their Instagram profile and use it to get tasks done.

The update was announced by Meta chief AI officer Alexandr Wang on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “You can now add your muse to your instagram profile.” “Show off your superintelligent sidekick to all your friends!”

Here’s how to set up Meta Muse AI agent on Instagram

Follow these steps to add Meta Muse AI agent to your Instagram:

• Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your smartphone.
• Step 2: Go to your profile.
• Step 3: Look for the “+ Add your Muse” option below your profile.
• Step 4: When the banner appears, tap Add next to Your Muse.
• Step 5: Go back to your Instagram profile.
• Step 6: Your Muse AI agent should now appear below your profile bio.
• Step 7: Tap on Muse and select Main chat to start a conversation.

Meta Muse AI agent: What it can do

Muse is designed to handle tasks instead of only providing answers. Users can describe what they want to do, and the agent can create a plan and carry out the required steps.

The agent can open a browser, fill out online forms and complete tasks for users. It can also continue working on longer tasks after the user closes the app. Muse can return when something changes or when it needs the user’s approval. For example, Muse can ask for permission before sending an email or making a purchase.

Muse is powered by Muse Spark, which Meta describes as its “most capable model to date” for real-world agentic tasks.

The AI agent can also remember useful information shared by users. For example, it can turn a recipe saved on Instagram into a grocery list. It can also remember dietary preferences when helping users plan a dinner.

“Muse runs on its own dedicated computer in the cloud, contained so no one else’s agent can reach it. That is where Muse lives and where the data and credentials for any service a person connects are securely stored,” Meta explained earlier.

Users can also control which apps Muse can access and what actions it can perform. They can disconnect connected services or ask Muse to forget information.
